Laughton Manor Stud

The Stud is home to quality broodmares, broodmares with foals at foot, youngsters, and up and coming stars.

The Stud prides itself on breeding the very best stock, with proven sires and dams - many of our youngsters are from the Jumbo line or from premium mares and performance tested stallions.

We endeavour to produce quality Sport Horses with the temperament to suit the rigours of the modern competition horse.

We have some lovely youngsters bred at the Stud from yearlings to five year olds – Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds or from Jumbo lines. We pride ourselves in giving our youngsters time to develop, we like the horse to show us what its best qualities are so we can develop its potential fully for its future role.

All our stud horses are handled daily, receive close personal attention from the stud staff and excel in the manners department. They are all used to the farrier, good to lead, be rugged and are on a regular worming program. We show regularly, use the BEF Grading system and welcome visitors. Our youngsters enjoy life and we like to think that we give them the very best start, we hope that they will go on to achieve their full potential.

Security is superb and vacancies do exist for boarding for broodmares and youngsters.

We have dedicated stud staff who work 24/7 during the foaling season to monitor the broodmares and aid them with foaling when needed. All the staff at LMEC take an active part in the foaling season and our foaling yard is separate to the main yard giving a quiet, secure atmosphere. Our foaling boxes have rubber matting, cameras and heat lamps to make our mares and foals as comfortable as possible.

Liz Young also owns Despino by Donnerhall who excels at Dressage and is ridden by Robyn Wetherall.  Woody qualified for the Regional Winter Finals at Medium level and is now working towards Advanced Medium.
